While severe structural failure or a total loss of vision is extraordinarily rare due to modern fail-safe computer programming, a suboptimal outcome can occur. If a patient is under-corrected due to unusual tissue healing, a secondary touch-up procedure can usually sharpen the vision to the desired 20/20 goal.
