Dr. David O’Day is a highly trained and experienced corneal, cataract and refractive surgeon, with expertise in the most advanced techniques of corneal, cataract and vision correction surgeries. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, he has traveled far to receive a well-rounded education and the highest quality professional training obtainable. He has applied this training since 1993 in both academic and private ophthalmologic practice settings, with subspecialty focus on corneal, cataract and refractive surgery.
Dr. O’Day completed his undergraduate studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He went on to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. for graduate and professional studies, first completing a Master’s of Science in Physiology and then a Doctorate in Medicine. After serving a four year stint in the U.S. Navy as a general medical doctor, he was admitted to one of the top 10 Eye Residency Programs in the country, completing a three-year program at Emory University Eye Center in 1992. He went on to do a dual Cornea and External Eye Diseases and Refractive Surgery Fellowship in Minnesota at the University of Minnesota and the Phillips Eye Institute. Dr. O’Day has been in private practice in Charleston, SC since 1996.
Dr. O’Day is devoted to the highest quality medical and surgical eye care of his patients. He has performed thousands of complicated microsurgical procedures to restore eyesight and correct serious vision problems. His corneal/refractive fellowship training and extensive experience has served him well in performing refractive, cataract and corneal surgery. He has successfully performed over 100,000 LASIK procedures during his career, making him one of the most experienced and sought after LASIK surgeons in the country. Dr. O’Day has proven that it is his reputation, experience and training credentials that set him apart from the field.
