Dr. Wörtz is a board-certified ophthalmologist from Lexington, KY specializing in LASIK and refractive surgery. Dr. Wörtz received his BA degree in chemistry from Asbury University and then received his Medical Degree from the University of Louisville graduating with honors in 2004. He then proudly completed his surgical internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Kentucky where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology in 2008.
Since completing his training in 2008, Dr. Wörtz has successfully performed thousands of LASIK and laser procedures. Much of this surgical volume has been predicated on Dr. Wörtz’s commitment to partnering with optometrists through post-operative co-management. He is dedicated to bringing high quality care to all Kentuckians.
Dr. Wörtz enjoys innovation and teaching his techniques to others around the country. He has been a consulting speaker for Alcon, Carl Zeiss Meditech and Dialogue Medical. He has given numerous lectures at both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of LASIK and Refractive Surgeons annual meetings. His other scholarly contributions have been featured in Ophthalmology Times, EyeWorld, and Ophthalmology Management magazines and The Journal of Medical Practice Management. Dr. Wörtz is also actively participating in FDA new drug studies to advance the treatment of many types of conditions that affect the eye. He is also an active member and elder at Southland Christian Church where he helped found and continues to help run a free eye clinic for the needy.
